Working with AI

Prompts that work

Ready-made requests to copy for building, changing, checking, translating and exporting courses with an AI app.

A prompt is simply what you write to the AI. You don't need special words: write as you would to a colleague who knows the Studio well. The requests on this page are tested; click Copy, paste them into your AI chat and change the details.

  • Build a new course or new slides from a short description.
  • Change texts, layouts, interactions and quizzes.
  • Check the course for errors and fix them.
  • Publish the course for Moodle.

All requests assume that your chat is connected to the Studio (see Connect your AI app).

A good request in 3 steps

Say what you want

"Add a quiz", "Shorten the texts", "Build a slide that shows our process".

Say where it goes

Use the names you see in the editor: slide titles, scene names, button labels. For example "on the slide Equipment" or "after the first slide".

Say how it should be

Number of questions, tone, length, target group. For example "five questions, plain language, for new employees".

Big changes work best one at a time. Let the AI finish, look at the result in the editor, then ask for the next step.

Get to know a course

Summarize
Read my course in Open Learning Studio and summarize what it contains. Suggest three improvements.
Outline first, change nothing
Show me the outline of my course: scenes, slides and which slides have questions or layers. Don't change anything yet.

Build a new course

New course from a description
Build a new course "Fire safety basics" for new employees, about 15 minutes: welcome, three short chapters with one interaction each, a final test with a results slide. Use plain language and address learners directly. Check the course before you hand it to me.
From my notes
Here are my notes for a training session (attached). Turn them into a course with one slide per topic, short texts, and a question after every chapter.

Add content

Learning objectives
After the first slide, add a slide with three learning objectives that fit the topic of the course.
Quiz
At the end of the course, create a quiz with five questions (single choice, multiple choice and matching) and a results slide with a passing score of 80 percent.
Summary slide
Before the quiz, add a slide "In a nutshell" with the five most important points of the course.

Layout and diagrams

Process diagram
Build a slide that shows our ordering process as four connected steps with a short note under each. Then look at the slide as a picture and fix anything that overlaps.
Tidy a slide
On the slide "Overview", put the three cards in one row with equal gaps, make them the same size and show me how the slide looks.

Make it interactive

Pop-up with details
On the slide "Equipment", add a "Learn more" button that opens a layer with details, and a close button on the layer.
Decision with two paths
Add a decision slide after "Scenario": two buttons lead to two different follow-up slides, and both paths meet again at "Summary".
Personal greeting
Ask for the learner's name on the second slide and greet them by name on the slide after it.

Check and fix

Check
Check my course for errors and accessibility issues and fix what you can fix safely. Tell me what you could not fix.
Check one scene
Check only the scene "Basics" of my course, give me a short summary of the problems and then fix them one by one.

Texts, media and translation

Replace a word
Replace "customer" with "client" everywhere in the course.
Simpler language
Rewrite the texts in chapter 2 in plain language: short sentences, no technical terms, address the learner as "you".
Picture next to the text
Put this diagram (attached) on the second slide next to the text.
Questions from Moodle
Import these Moodle GIFT questions into a question bank and draw five of them in the final test.
Translate
Translate the course into French as a new course.

Settings, versions and export

Player and reporting
Switch the player to the dark color scheme, add a glossary with the key terms and report to Moodle as passed or failed.
Safety net
Save a version called "Before rework", then rewrite chapter 2. If I don't like it, restore the version.
Export for Moodle
Export the course as SCORM 1.2 for Moodle.

When the AI exports, the file appears in View Connect AI under Files created by the AI. Click Download. How to upload it to Moodle: SCORM and Moodle.

Ask the guide

If your AI app also has this guide connected (https://docs.ols.yonn.online/mcp, see Working with AI), it can look things up before it answers:

Look it up first
Look up in the Open Learning Studio guide how triggers and variables work, then add a counter to my course that counts how many hotspots the learner has clicked.

If something doesn't work

The AI answers but changes nothing. Your chat is not connected to the Studio. Paste the sentence with the code from Connect AI again.

The result is not what I wanted. Press CtrlZ to undo it, then ask again with more detail: where, how many, how long.

The AI changed too much at once. Ask for one thing per message. Before big rewrites, ask it to save a version first.
